What would your life be like in a perfect world? Let's take a journey together.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to live in a perfect world? What if there was no war? What if all people had food, a good place to live and education, if they desired it? What if people were happy and enjoyed using their gifts and talents to help make the world a better place? What would your life be like in this kind of world?

Let’s take a journey together. Just sit back and relax, get comfortable and close your eyes.

A Perfect World Visualization

You wake up on a clear, crisp morning. The weather is not too hot or cold. Today, you are working on the house you are building for your friend, Tom. You are a builder in your town of 300 people. All of the building materials you are using are sustainable. You love working with your hands, being close to nature and making something your friends and members of your town appreciate.

Your workday begins at 8:00 A.M. When it gets close to 12:00, you walk home for a quick lunch and then head for the fishing hole, which is near the river bordering your town. Your fishing buddies are joining you soon.

After a few hours of perfect fishing and socializing with your friends, you take a long, leisurely nap under your favorite oak tree while your buddies continue fishing.

You have enough time to rest before the late afternoon festivities. Today is the celebration of your Town’s 5th anniversary. All of the children are putting on a play and the Town musicians are performing. The food will be delicious, as usual. Your son, John, is in the play, so you want to make sure you have plenty of time to shower and dress before the performance.

The play was wonderful. The moon is shining bright and you let it guide you as you walk home with our wife, Mary and your son, John. After spending some time with John before he goes to sleep, you read one of your favorite books - a philosophy book by the great German philosopher, Goethe.

After spending some quiet time with Mary, talking over the events of the day, you decide to go to sleep. Tomorrow is the Town Council meeting and you are one of its founding members. Because all issues are settled for the highest good of all, there are rarely any differences between people which are not happily solved.

As you lie down, a deep feeling of appreciation wells up within you - appreciation for your beautiful wife and son, good health, the work you love, your friends, and for life itself.

(This is the end of the visualization. When you feel ready, slowly open your eyes and come back into the room.)

What is important is not the specific content of this vision as much as the tone and feeling it conveys of people who are fulfilled, happy and contributing to the lives of one another in a way which is for the highest good of everyone.

The way of life offered in this visualization is different than the way most of us live now. It is free from stress which many of us experience in our personal and work life. It is also very different than the world we see in the newspapers, radio and television.

How can we make the transition from the world as we know it to this kind of world?

Teachings from many indigenous cultures tell us that we are at the beginning of this kind of life. It is called by some, the Golden Age.

How do we begin to live this kind of life? What are the first steps?

Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to begin this exciting journey into a world of new possibilities.

1. What are the things I love to do in my life?
2. How do I want to help other people?
3. What do I need to know or to do next?
4. When will I begin?

Each time we take a step towards our vision for a new life and world, it becomes stronger. And then, one day, we look around and we see the fruits of our pioneering work - joy, creativity, health - we see people creating a brand new world of new possibilities - for everyone. We are not far from that time. It is time to begin.
