Jim holds an MS degree in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and has more than 35 years of experience in process design and energy/water optimization, working for both manufacturing and engineering design companies before establishing his firm in 1997, specializing in Process Integration (Pinch Analysis).
He has been a consultant to major corporations world-wide including Amoco (BP), Union Carbide (Dow), Dupont, Enron, Lubrizol, Mitsubishi, Monsanto (Solutia), Pemex, PetroChina, SABIC, Saudi Aramco, Southern Cal Gas, Tesoro, Xcel Energy, Dubai Gas Supply, as well as to US Dept of Energy, Natural Resources Canada, the World Bank, and UNIDO. He has authored or co-authored over 75 technical papers and book chapters, and regularly teaches courses on Pinch Analysis, Energy Efficiency in Oil Refineries, and related subjects.
Since 2008, he has headed up a world-wide network of about a dozen individual experts (minimum 25 years experience) and 3-4 specialist companies as Alliance Partners, who provide consulting services focused on the oil, gas and chemical industries.
